Are these homes as strong as traditional brick-and-mortar houses?
Absolutely. In fact, light steel frame (LSF) construction offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio compared to timber or brick. Our frames are precision-engineered to withstand extreme wind loads and seismic activity, while the high-density PVC foam wall systems provide a rigid, impact-resistant finish. Unlike brick, which can crack over time due to ground movement, steel remains dimensionally stable, ensuring your home stays perfectly level and structurally sound for decades.
How do these materials handle the South African climate and coastal humidity?
This is where our building system truly shines. Both galvanized steel and PVC foam are 100% moisture-proof and corrosion-resistant. While traditional homes often suffer from rising damp, peeling plaster, or salt-air erosion, our materials are immune to rot and rust. This makes them the ultimate choice for coastal living, as they require significantly less maintenance and won't degrade in high-humidity environments.
What about fire safety and insulation?
Safety is our top priority. Our PVC foam boards are inherently fire-retardant and self-extinguishing, often carrying a Class A fire rating. Combined with the non-combustible nature of steel, these homes provide excellent protection. Furthermore, the "closed-cell" structure of the foam board provides exceptional thermal insulation, keeping your home naturally cooler in summer and warmer in winter, significantly reducing your long-term electricity costs.
Is the house at higher risk for termites or pests?
No. One of the greatest advantages of this technology is that it is completely "pest-proof." Termites and wood-boring insects require cellulose (found in wood) to survive. Since our homes are built with steel and high-grade synthetic PVC, there is zero nutritional value for pests. You will never have to worry about the structural damage or expensive chemical treatments associated with traditional timber-framed or older brick homes.
How long does the construction process take compared to a normal build?
We can typically complete a home up to 30% to 50% faster than traditional building methods. Because the steel frames are pre-engineered and the PVC boards are lightweight and easy to install, we eliminate much of the "wet work" (like waiting for mortar or plaster to dry). This not only gets you into your new home sooner but also reduces on-site waste and minimizes the unpredictability of weather delays during the structural phase.
